My name is Crystal, but I have been using the name ‘Vega Visara’ as a personal stage name ever since I was little. It was a regular afternoon in eighth grade, I was sitting in my physics class when my teacher started to randomly talk about stars, emphasizing one specific star, ‘Alphae Lyrae’ otherwise known as ‘Vega’. He said that it was the fifth brightest star in the night sky, brighter than our current North Star, Polaris too. He rambled on and ended with, “Not a lot people know about Vega, but in about 14,000 years, it will become Earth’s new North Star...” Then, he went on to teach about torque.

The information was so ordinary, but it got me to think about my own life. I had no idea whether I could become a singer or not, despite the love and passion I had for it. It seemed like stardom started at a young star for most artists, so my chances of making it were probably dim by now. However, hearing about Vega, I realized that all this time, I had been chasing the ‘success’ that was created by society, when in reality, success didn’t truly have a fixed definition. It’s defined by you.

I don’t know where I will end up in my life or what type of star I will be, but I am certain I will be something. It may take time, possibly longer than most, but in due time, I will become Vega.
